Malcolm X
Malcolm X was an Islamic follower of Elijah Muhammad. He eventually broke away from Elijah Muhammad and started his own Islamic religious organization. He had come from a rough background with his house burning down, his father dying, and his mother becoming mentaly ill. He did help with civil rights and protested along side many other a African-Americans for their rights. By the early 1960's he had become well known in the media, surpassing Elijah Muhammed as the real leader of the African-American Islamic movement. Malcolm X was shot at a speaking engagement as 3 men got on stage and shot him 15 times. Malcolm X died on his way to the hospital on February 21st, 1965.
