The Civil Rights Movement
Civil rights were extremely revolutionary, especially during the 1960s. Decade after decade in America, black people were considered a lesser race, and fought for their equality and freedom; however, it got much stronger in the 60s. More black people started to go out in the street and protest until they would have a full on street fight with the police. Although the most well-known leaders for civil rights were Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X., there were many others. Other people helped in different ways like Mary McLeod Bethune, who started schools for black children so they could have a better education. Thanks to the 1960s America is now desegregated and living up to the idea of equality for all.
