Malcolm X
Malcolm X was another big name in the civil rights movement. Born Malcolm Little on May 19th, 1925, he was one of 8 children. His Father had been an outspoken baptist minister who supported Nationalist leader Marcus Garucy. This caused some trouble and the family began to get some death threats from the Black Legion, a white supermist group. Because of this the family had to locate twice before Malcolm was even three years old. In 1929, the family was living in Landsing Michigan, when their house had been burnt down by another raseist group. Two years later Malcolms Father was found lying across the tracks of a trolley dead. Later on his mother had a mental break down and was admited into a mental hospital causing the children to be split up and sent to different orphanages. During his childhood Malcolm was very smart and graduated jounir high at the top of his classes. He kept up his impressive grades until his favorite teacher told him that it was unreailistic to want to become a black lawyer. Frustrated and upset, he droped out of school and in 1946 was arrested for burglary. Sentanced to ten years of prision, he was put on parol after his seventh and learned that his older brother was studing the teachings of the Nation of Islam. This sparked Malcolms interest and he became fasinated with this and their leader Elijah Muhammad. They believed that He started to spread NOIs messages across the US and became a media magnet.
